Review on Pentax 16-45mm f/4.0 SMC PDA ED AL Zoom Lens: Compatible with Pentax and Samsung Digital SLR Cameras by Jessica Burns

A beautiful lens that speaks for performance!

As this was my first DSLR which I bought along with a Sigma 70-300mm f/4-5.6 DG macro telephoto zoom for Pentax and Samsung DSLRs I was able to for a while don't spend money on lenses. But it's about time I upgraded my gear with quality glass. My first consideration was a telephoto lens, but I also needed a simple, good barrel lens that could work. And my search led to this lens. I don't like landscapes yet and feel like I can't waste my time and energy traveling to places. But a lens in the $350 range with quality glass and high performance made me buy it. And you know what? I'm glad I made my decision. First the cons ----------------1. If it was 20mm longer it would be a dream2. Using the flash almost destroys the photo because the shadow of the lens will disturb the picture.3. Often the DOF can be very thin. Pros ---------------- 1. Spicy, spicy and very hot2. The quick switch function is very useful when shooting portraits3. It's also a very good macro lens. If you don't need to shoot flies, you might not need a true macro lens4. The lens hood has a hole for rotating the polarizing filter. Very nice!5. It is moderate in weight and the design of this lens looks beautiful. You will love the look of your DSLR with the lens attached. For many people, this lens will be enough to capture landscapes, interiors, and portraits. What impresses me is the sharpness and color reproduction of this lens, as well as its macro capabilities. I would recommend this lens to anyone. Cheers Gunasekhar
