2.5 months back, $16.73 each. I really like this counter, over time it has become an important part of my life. This has never happened to me with my other devices, which also showed humidity and temperature. ACCURACY. Both AcuRite 01083Ms show the same readings all the time, except once in 10 weeks: humidity readings were 47 and 48% for a few hours at home, both devices were within 1 inch. Other gauges showed less or more than AcuRite. 01083M at that time, probably due to lower accuracy, lower speed. SPEED. I've noticed that my other gauges are very slow compared to the AcuRite 01083M, I'll never agree - because of the slow action. This can be seen mainly when opening and closing windows in the morning, in the evening. Over time I've learned to ignore other meters and currently only rely on the AcuRite 01083M. It's fast and accurate and has made every other meter in my house obsolete. MAGNETS. The two 3/8" magnets on the back for attaching to a metal surface are also very nice and surprisingly durable. I hear a loud click when attaching it to the refrigerator door and feel a decent amount of force pulling the AcuRite 01083M against the door. I attached the AcuRite 01083M to the frame of a ping pong table and let it hang from just one magnet - very strong!DISPLAY Very easy to read in a large room, very clear even at over 80 degrees Later I started looking at high and low readings to pay attention and realized that they were important to me.Somehow I didn't pay much attention to the arrows showing the UP/DOWN trend - but they may be needed when the counters are placed in the bathroom or fridge.So far were my readings at home for the last 8 weeks 15-60 for humidity and 65-85 for temperature I see some improvements being made to the AcuRite 01083M k could: If the temperature is set to Celsius, two digits means less resolution. Maybe you could arrange the display a little differently to have more space for the 3rd digit? Is it possible that the 3rd digit is not needed for such a fast counter because it would change too often? MAN, MIN readings for humidity and temperature are a very good complement, I check both very often. DIMENSIONS. Revain accurately displays all sizes. AcuRite 01083M is not very thin, changing the existing thickness from 7/8 inch to even 3/4 inch can make it more attractive. Some products on the market have rounded edges to make them look thinner. I think 7/8 is good because the meter is very stable on a flat surface. And its weight is well balanced, no accidental falls are to be expected. Print quality often found in manuals for products costing hundreds of dollars. The size of the manual is two letter sized sheets. It is easy to read, the content is presented in a clever and thoughtful way. The model name in the manual is 01083 while on the actual counter I bought it says 01083M on the page is printed on it, something like - Typical battery life 10 months, typical current draw .mA This product WORKS/NOT WORKS with rechargeable AAA batteries.- I'm very curious to know such things, took my trusty Fluke Model 8060A DMM, set it to current measurement with the probes inserted between the batteries in the battery compartment. I did this in front of a mirror to see how the AcuRite 01083M would perform with an ammeter attached. The current readings were the same 13uA in both the 200uA and 200mA ranges. The AcuRite 01083M consistently showed accurate readings of humidity and temperature throughout the test, all of which were visible in the mirror. And the display shone as bright as ever. I didn't expect such a good performance. So I took a lab quality meter and got identical readings of 13uA. I calculated that 750mAh AAA batteries should last around 6-7 years here, too good to be true? Perhaps my tests show static power while the AcuRite 01083M draws much more current, for example in the form of pulses every 1 minute? I HAVE NOT INVESTIGATED IT. Interestingly the AcuRite 01083M displayed the correct information IMMEDIATELY after inserting the batteries, a very nice feature - many other products on the market show a flashing screen after inserting the batteries, there is some great work in progress. One day I will test the AcuRite 01083M with batteries and update this review. DROP TEST. When testing the power draw, I accidentally dropped the AcuRite 01083M from about 1 foot onto a hard surface several times. There were no visible changes on the surface of the glucometer, all readings remained, the same AcuRite 01083M placed next to another device gave identical readings within 1 minute. However, I would not drop the AcuRite 01083M from 3 feet onto a tile floor. A MAGNETIC FIELD. It would be nice if I could put the AcuRite 01083M on a high speaker without worrying about the speaker's magnetic fields affecting the meter reading. Although the manual is very detailed, it does not indicate whether the AcuRite 01083M is sensitive to DC or AC magnetic fields. Maybe I'll put a very strong magnet next to one of the two AcuRite 01083M's I have and see in a few minutes if both counters read the same? I find the AcuRite 01083M to be a smart and well thought out design. After comparing the AcuRite 01083M to other devices for 8 weeks, I am confident that this device is for me. I plan to put one up in the bathroom where I expect more complex readings. I am very happy with my purchase, consider it a good deal for what I paid.
