Cheap sloppy and half broken sounds like the start of a bad joke, but in this case the joke is on you. The moment I opened the box everything went downhill. First I saw that parts of the reflector were dented and bent. When I pulled out the pieces, they fell off. Cheap low quality and flimsy plastic parts fell into the box. I had to be careful when assembling the antenna, because this antenna is as strong as an empty eggshell. The controller was broken at the bottom and there was a big wound. As others have said, the cable connected to this so-called antenna was of almost the lowest quality. It has a European style finish. It's long so I cut it off and added the ends of the F connector. The shield is a thin aluminum foil in the shape of a butterfly wing covering approximately 80% of the cable. Outside the foil shield for the rotor are six thin strands of wire. The cable is so thin that the F connector is too big to attach so I used 3M 33+ electrical tape to make it thick enough to connect. in the direction I want. I tried several times to get it working and eventually it worked once, but it only did about 1/3 turn and then stopped. After multiple attempts and several different paths, it stopped moving, so I had to remove the antenna and guide it manually. After all that, I plugged it in, and after the other person rotated the antenna, I only got two channels. I had another antenna for only 23 channels. Fortunately, with this antenna, two channels were not received by the old one, mainly because they were in one direction away from the receiving end of the other. So I got a hybrid combiner/splitter from Radio Shack and now use both antennas pointing in different directions. As for the control unit and amplifier. Oh God! I'm a radio amateur and was an electronics engineer in the Navy and I have to say whoever designed this amp was very shy, I designed better things than this in high school. The parts that make it up are scrap from a Chinese slave labor factory and they are not discarded much. Finally, this antenna does not work well and is of poor quality. They tried to overdo it with bells and whistles like rotor and amplifier. You should remove these features and spend the rest on the antenna itself. Two stars for receiving two channels. Update: As I said, there is also an amplifier in the control box, so I used that for that, but after a few days I noticed that the smell is coming from the box. When I picked it up, the bottom of the box almost burned my fingers and I dropped it like a hot potato. I turned it off and let it cool down. After taking it apart I found that the transformer was still warm. It's not attached anywhere and sits on a plastic base. The plastic bottom was partially melted. The amp didn't really do much anyway, so I bought a real standalone amp with much higher quality and performance.
