Chamberlain's Milk Healing Skin Balm works great. However, no balm or conditioner will cover all scratches. To hide/camouflage really stubborn scratches, use a colored leather cream. But don't worry, this conditioner covers most scratches. you will like it! The sponge applicator is great for controlling and moving the product. Yes, it darkens finished skin, even dark skin. 2-3 hours to dry. If your leather jacket was made with a matte or satin finish, this conditioner dries to a matte finish. Don't like the dull matte finish of your leather jacket? Neither do I. Let's add some shine to that old skin. Ha! Don't look for a leather jacket cleaner. I haven't found any. But I figured out how to clean my jacket. That's easy. To add shine to the surface of your leather jacket you will need to apply a light wax and buff to a shine. This is how I did it with my medium to dark brown genuine leather jacket. My jacket was given a distressed finish and a satin sheen at the factory. The painful work was terrible. I used Leather Milk Healing Balm and Leather Honey Conditioner to condition, darken, and cover/blend areas where discomfort looked unreal. I left the areas of the jacket untreated where the aging looked natural and realistic (at the seams, cuffs, collar, bottom hem, etc.). Leave to dry for 2-3 hours. To add shine you need a neutral colored wax. I used Kiwi "Neutral" shoe wax. Don't use wax you say? Will it clog the skin's pores and make it breathless? Ha! This cow is dead! Forget all that nonsense. We will only use a little wax. Also, I've waxed my LEATHER shoes for YEARS and they've never complained of shortness of breath. In fact, my shoes look AMAZING. Remember that using a neutral shoe wax will darken your leather even further. Experiment in an inconspicuous area. OK. Cut open an old cotton t-shirt and roll it up to create a smooth dipping surface. Rub the ball very lightly into the wax. Apply the wax to the jacket in very light circular motions. I say LIGHT because we only want to wax the texture of the top surface of the leather. Do not break the wax into microscopic cracks in the skin. Applying wax to the TOP of the leather brings out the amazing texture of the leather and allows the unwaxed microscopic cracks underneath to breathe. Apply wax to a central area of intact skin, working in a circular motion from the center of the area, gradually applying less and less wax as you approach the damaged sutures. Again, wax only the top surface of the leather structure. Let the wax dry for 5 minutes. Use a soft, clean cloth or a clean horsehair shoe brush to buff the waxed areas VERY lightly. See? Simple and AMAZING. For radiant skin, repeat the process as many times as you like. The wax repels water and adds a protective layer to protect your leather jacket. To remove the wax, wipe the wax off with a towel and rubbing alcohol. I've looked everywhere for this information and found nothing. I hope people find this useful.
