Review on Enhanced VA708A 1024P Monitor by ViewSonic by John Paul

I have had several Viewsonic monitors over the years and have been very happy with them, but NOT THIS TIME. If I hadn't accidentally thrown away the stand that came with it (I have a wall mounted one) I would have sent this monitor back. Graphics quality is VERY AVERAGE. The curves in all fonts, regardless of the application, have a stepped character reminiscent of the old DOS RGB fonts, although not as pronounced. I spent a few days talking to Viewsonic Tech Support about this issue. To their credit the staff there were VERY helpful and genuinely went out of their way to help. We played with everything: settings, cables, drivers, etc. Nothing changed. In the end, Viewsonic said, "We have concluded that this VA series monitor is likely at the root of your experience. While all ViewSonic products are quality products, some are designed for simpler needs, while others are tuned for a slightly higher level of overall functionality. The VA series is part of the first. "I bit the bullet and sent this monitor in the box as an emergency backup and replaced it with an Acer V176L (also purchased from Revain) with out of the box and WAY superior performance and graphics.
