Review on 💡 Furman AC-215A Black Compact Power Conditioner with Auto-Resetting Voltage Protection by Luis Estrella

I use a Furman AC-215A to filter mains voltage for some electronic diagnostic equipment including an oscilloscope, function generator and benchtop PTO and frequency counter. Ironically, these tools can also be used to test how well the AC-215A is performing and I see no problem with what it's missing. A nice feature is that if there is a prolonged overvoltage of more than 135 volts, it will shut off. Surge protection alone does not help in such a situation. The AC-215A is probably the cheapest and most reliable unit out there, probably because it's made in China. But since you've gone this far, I'm throwing out three more titles: Zero Surge/Brick Wall and SurgeX. Personally, I'm not aware of any other manufacturer making anything I would use, no matter the price, other than a few industrial suppliers. Fuhrman uses MOV to allow controlled discharge of a burst or surge portion of a circuit; However, beware of the hype surrounding approaches other than MOV. Regardless of the method used, the energy from the surge needs to be released into something, and in a circuit there are essentially only two choices. What determines the effectiveness of a surge protector is its ability to reliably absorb energy and then release it in a controlled manner without destroying itself. And for that matter, it's a better rated device than some of my own lists that cost twice as much. Limitations to be aware of with the AC-215A are that it only has two outputs and a maximum total current rating of 10 amps. So don't expect it to protect the heater. And only a good household contents insurance protects against a direct lightning strike.
