This is the foam that comes standard with the Fluval Flex 15. It slides into chamber 2. The water from chamber 1 flows through this foam, through 2 media shapes arranged in rectangular cutouts, and bottom to bottom camera 3. You get another one of these and use it as an extra filter as it also for the 1.1. fit camera. I will say that this foam has good large pores and passes water well while remaining medium to large in size. Solids before passing. Beneficial bacteria accumulate on its huge inner and outer surfaces over time. The two open slots are for adding materials of your choice such as Biomax or Carbon etc. I made sure this block is exactly the same as the one that was originally in the Fluval Flex 15. I found that these foam blocks will fit in either Chamber 1 or 2 of the Fluval Flex 15, so we installed them in both chambers. I've tried installing InTank media boxes instead of these foams. I found that these original foams actually worked best with biological media inserted and media bags placed in the empty spaces below in the chambers. I removed my crates of intank media and went back to using those foam blocks. I now keep a few of these foam blocks in stock as they can be cut up for use in other filters as well. Original foam if you replace it as they don't have extra handles.
