I bought this solar charger out of curiosity - do a few small solar panels really produce enough electricity to charge a cell phone? After purchasing and trying this item, I can say with confidence that they work! The solar charger is well made and gives a pleasant feeling of solidity and rigidity. It folds easily to fit in a bag or car, and without lots of cables in the case, it's surprisingly thin. Keep in mind that putting a bunch of cables in your pocket will add thickness, but still not thick enough to be a burden. I should add that the charger comes with a micro USB cable which I wish was USB. C at this price point, but I have a lot of USB-C cables. You also get two carabiners, which may come in handy for attaching it to a backpack or other surface using the included mounting holes. As I said earlier, the solar charger comes with an attached zippered pouch that you can put your phone in while charging. and store cables and other necessary items when the charger is not in use. The case comes in handy for protecting the phone from the scorching sun while charging, so that's a big plus. Inside the case there is a plastic block with two USB ports, allowing you to charge two devices at the same time. I wouldn't recommend charging two devices at the same time, but I'll get to that later. One interesting thing about this particular solar charger is that it doesn't come with a battery or any way to hold the charge. Basically if you want to charge your phone you need to connect it to a solar charger while it is in the sun or alternatively you can use a solar charger to charge your portable battery if you prefer to charge your phone. later. I wouldn't call it a downside, but it's something to keep in mind when looking for a solar charger like this. Next I will give some information on how well the charger works. As I said, I was curious, if not a bit skeptical, before purchasing this product. To test this on different phones, I connected a Samsung Galaxy S10+, an iPhone 11 Pro Max, and an iPhone 7+. Although the charger doesn't support fast charging for Android phones, it does the job. When connecting two devices at the same time, the charging speed slowed down. The slower charging speed when trying to charge multiple devices is to be expected, but it's nice to have the option if you need to charge two things at once in a pinch and aren't in a hurry. I've seen some other reviews that say the charger slows down when partially covered in the shade, but this only happened to me when 2 of the 4 solar panels were covered. When only one panel was closed, I didn't see any decrease in charge rate. Overall I'd say this is a pretty good charger for what it is. I wish it was cheaper, but overall I'm happy with it. I plan on keeping this charger in my car for emergencies and I'm sure it will come in handy if I ever need to use it.
