I had a laptop that I wanted to restore and needed to download data before restoring. I've started saving data to the hard drive and I'm having problems. Tried formatting with no success, some bad sectors. My mistake was not checking the drive first. Before you trust a drive, you should use it a little before trusting it with your important data. I loaded a lot of sensitive data on the hard drive and if such data is on the hard drive, I can't get it back, I just consider it a loss. I don't really know what they do with the drive you're sending back, but with sensitive personal information on it I really don't want to risk it. My next drive will hold a lot of movies and music and it will take a while before I trust it to hold sensitive data. That way, if he dies, I really have no problem returning a drive with a copy of the media that I can't open up to identity theft, information about your bank accounts, etc. e. At least I just copied the information from my old drive and haven't destroyed the original data yet. I was disappointed that the drive failed, but the company would probably fix it if I returned it. I also pulled the drive out of the case and put it in one of the drive bays, same problem. My advice is to use it with non-sensitive data for a while before putting sensitive data into it.
