Review on πŸ“½οΈ RLC-072 Compatible Projector Lamp with Housing by Mogobe for Viewsonic Projectors by Tom Motko

Revainrating 2 out of 5

Worked great, nice and bright then decided to switch to Super Nova.

In other words, exploded in the projector. Unfortunately, I looked at several items and decided on this one. Pretty much matched the OG lamp I had with the projector. This lamp has been running for about 4300-4500+/- hours which is over. The lamp I received matched the one I had before and fitted easily into the projector's lamp body. Installed a new lamp, reset the clock to it, let it run for a few minutes, then turned off the projector, waited a minute or two for the projector to turn off completely, then turned it back on. When I turned it on for the first time, I noticed the red lamp indicator was flashing, after turning it off as above, it went out. Made a few changes to the projector settings, it was brighter now with the new lamp. I previously cleaned the projector, ventilated it with an air compressor and made sure all fans were working properly before installing a new lamp. . With that in mind, I've read that several other lightbulbs have blown due to the heat. I have requested a refund/exchange and will likely receive the same bulb/brand again. While it could happen again, it could just be one of those 1 in 10,000 that turns out to be faulty, you never know. I will also look at the airflow and make sure all the fans are working properly. I'll put in an old lamp (that doesn't work) to see how the airflow/ventilation is. I tested it when it was new and it seems to be pushing air through at a good rate. 1st of maybe 2 as soon as I get a new lamp (if I can get it again from here). I will continue when I write a new review. I gave the item 3 stars because when it worked it worked well. Photo note: the first two originals (already out, 4300+ hours), then the projector where the lamp goes, and the rest from the exploding lamp. The last picture is a photo of a new lamp. Please note that I have an open window in the living room that lets in the light. I'm thinking about taking a new photo with the curtains closed or a night shot. I'm also not the type that needs to have the perfect environment, watching sports during the day or a few other shows is fine with us.
