I preferred these to the sticker holder as they seem safer, time will tell but there have been more stories of cymbals falling off the sticker holder. I don't really like it when the holder is visible from the front, but it's better to be safe than sorry. Here are some tips for measuring the plate. I may order the next size up because I'm concerned about the level of spring tension as this holder barely fits. 1) Use a fabric tape (e.g. a seamstress, not a carpenter) to measure the BACK of the plate, taking into account the curve of the plate, don't forget the hem! 2) The edge of a rectangular or square panel will not curve like a round or oval panel, so you may need to increase the size. It barely fits my 9 inch rectangular platter, so if you are in that last inch size I think I would buy the next size up.
