Just won't work with SOny MDR-100ABN headphones

Just didn't work with the Sony MDR-100ABN headphones I bought them specifically for. Only the left channel came. The right channel and microphone did not work at all. When I REALLY plugged the end into the headphones, the right channel worked - sort of (but the mic never worked). Taking a closer look, my only conclusion is that the aluminum body is just too thick to fit properly in the headphones. Cable design was good - as long as it worked.
