I live in Texas where temperatures reach over 100F in the summer. Under these conditions, my Tahoe burns out either the resistor or the resistor plug about every 1-2 years. I've replaced so many that as soon as my fan speed stopped working I knew my resistor was failing. The last sign the resistor was failing was when I was sitting in my Tahoe one day and smelled a strong electrical odor under the dash. After that, only fan speed 5 worked for me. If you've ever used fan speed 5 in a Chevrolet Tahoe, you know that fan speed 5 is so powerful it feels like a shop fan is blowing in your face. I almost have to yell just for the people in my car to hear me through the fan, so needless to say I wanted my other fan speeds back! It comes with a separate cover for different fan speeds and an attached power connector for the fan. I ended up not needing a connector for different fan speeds, but I ordered one in case mine burned out. Now I have a spare fork in case it burns out next time.
