I bought these items to be able to use my laptop's USB ports at full speed to charge my phone. When my phone detects that it is connected to a computer, it automatically limits consumption to 0.4A. Compliant with USB 2.0 specifications. However, all USB ports on my laptop can deliver around 1.7-2A when tested with a load tester. With this device, my phone will draw the full 1.46A from my laptop's USB ports, which it is capable of with a good wall charger. I no longer have to put my laptop to sleep and use the dedicated USB charging port on the back, I can charge at full speed while I get work done. Now I don't have to carry a phone power adapter around with me anymore. For security reasons, the two data pins are physically absent from the USB connector, preventing a malicious "charge" port from being attached. connect to the phone.
