The packaging is a bit obscene, but still.

product works well but dirty joke with reusable bag is totally unnecessary. Instead, buy a large package. The best price and you will not be ashamed to give it to your relatives for Christmas. I bought two packs for myself to test this out first and after seeing the bag they came in I had to send the ones I bought as gifts to my house to unbox and into something else without my very conservative parents seeing the original packaging. For heaven's sake, think of the children!

Essential for travel. It's just not safe without it.

There have been some horror stories about hacking cell phones with USB chargers that have been tampered with, so consider this a condom for your safe charging practice with unfamiliar ports. USB connections carry power, but they also carry data, so without a data blocker (or rather, this power-only device) you're putting your device at risk. I have tested it in my Android Auto car and when I use this lock device my car cannot connect to my phone via USB to play music and such. It doesn't even…

Reliable data protection - the adapter is only for charging!

Ideal for use in public USB charging ports. Prevents data theft and/or malware from being placed on your device. This will "block" data transfer and ONLY allow charging via USB cable. You connect this device to the end of your device's USB cable, and then plug the red end into a public USB port for charging. It's amazing and scary how some devices can install malware on your device just by charging it with a USB cable! It takes away some of the fear. I highly recommend you buy a few and store…

This little gem solved my problem

My car has a factory sat nav but I prefer google maps. Unfortunately, when I connect my phone to the car with a USB cable, the device keeps trying to sync data even though my phone doesn't allow it. The result is a barrage of rapidly flashing phone screens that turn my phone off and make it unusable to navigate. By simply plugging the PortaPow data blocker into the car's USB port, I now have a clean, reliable, and clean power source for my phone. The syncing issue has been completely resolved…

  • delivery was very quick

This claims to do more than I want it to, ie only disable data lines. I have two reasons and I have confirmed that this works for both. First, I don't want computers trying to peek inside my smart devices. That's what makes it great. My devices do not detect the presence of a computer when connected to a network. Another application is cars. My Ford blocks Bluetooth when something is wired. This solves the problem of charging the phone without knowing the car. My wife can charge her phone while

Mandatory for using public charging points at airports etc.

The obvious problem is that when you plug the charging cable into a handy 5V socket your data is connected to the socket. USB cables have both power and data architecture. You need power, but you open your device to any software that wants to download information about your device and send it somewhere. According to security experts, this is an active hack that occurs in many airports and transportation stations around the world. If the system isn't hacked, people in the next row can connect…

Potentially Dangerous Trick

They claim the lack of wired data connections means you can visually see it's secure. Unfortunately, there are wired data connections on the one hand, but not on the other. Although this means that your phone cannot communicate with the device that the adapter is connected to, your phone can still communicate with the adapter. find, but this adapter may have a tiny chip masquerading as an input device and doing exactly what it's supposed to protect you from. Look for Seytonic Evolution Of The…

Nice build, works great.

I bought these items to be able to use my laptop's USB ports at full speed to charge my phone. When my phone detects that it is connected to a computer, it automatically limits consumption to 0.4A. Compliant with USB 2.0 specifications. However, all USB ports on my laptop can deliver around 1.7-2A when tested with a load tester. With this device, my phone will draw the full 1.46A from my laptop's USB ports, which it is capable of with a good wall charger. I no longer have to put my laptop to…

Course performance varies by device

PortaPow 3rd Gen Data Blocker generally works as advertised allowing you to charge (or work and charge) many devices without the risk of data transfer and probably better than anything 500mA from older USB ports. However, you should avoid high expectations. In recent years, USB charging has become a remarkably difficult situation, with various partially compatible standards vying for dominance. Given the complexity, PortaPow probably manages to a.) charge instead of nothing and b.) for advanced
