Review on Gladiator Joe Monitor Bracket Compatible Computer Accessories & Peripherals by Nate Skinner

Revainrating 4 out of 5

Very good adapter but a few issues

I have two Gladiator Joe VESA arm adapters (Model # GJ0A0055) for use with two Acer G227HQL Abi 21.5 inch monitors. The overall quality is good and the fit is great. Would buy them again even knowing what I'm doing now (see below) For most people this mount will be fine and I could easily give 5 stars 1. The top image of this model's adapter on Revain shows the monitor mount, which is welded to the BOTTOM SIDE Although the fourth picture below shows the monitor attached to the bracket, it is welded to the center of the panel, I see no reason to weld this bracket to the center as the bracket is like this or fixed in the bottom position , and the HDMI and VGA ports on the back of the monitor are not affected. Some of their other adapters mount it below where it should be. Looks like someone didn't update the image when the factory made changes. Because the monitor mount is welded to the center of the VESA plate, 1.5 inches of the backplate is visible under the monitor. The left monitor mounts on the wall above my desk, so this is purely cosmetic. But the right monitor not only has a 1.5 inch back panel visible under the monitor, it also takes up space on my desk as this monitor sits 5 inches above my desk. I fixed this by cutting 1.5 inches off the bottom of the back panel so the monitor mount is now flush with the back panel. It would also be possible to grind down the welds and weld the monitor mount to the floor. I drilled two holes in the bottom of the back panel next to the monitor mount since I had the bottom removed. This mod removes the full VESA mount, but it doesn't matter to me since I've installed it on custom mounts.2. The monitor mount is 2 inches from the back panel. That doesn't leave much room for a direct HDMI connection. It fits, but you have to make a sharp 90° bend right at the connector. My thin (.215") cables connect easily, but my thick (.375" cable) is a bit fiddly, but it will fit for sure. It's much easier to install with a left (90°) or right (270°) connector. The HDMI is oriented so that the shorter part is at the bottom, then when you look at the connector, the "left" cable runs to left (90°) "right" is 270° Search Revain "left HDMI cable" or "right"HDMI cable" for your choice. This should not be confused with the Right Angle HDMI Adapter, at where "below" is called 90° and "up" is called 270°. Monitor mount interferes. strong enough oh in this app. My other adapter had good welds.4. Paint is not dry (tight Upon receipt (both VERY well packaged) they smelled strongly of petroleum and they were slightly sticky - not to the point of fingerprinting, but it was VERY easy to scrape the paint off your fingernail with light pressure, leaving bare metal If the adapter had stayed on the paper, it would have stuck to it love. Primer was not used. After two weeks there wasn't much change, so I took the paint off to repaint it (this time with a primer).
