Inferior quality compared to 10 years ago - otherwise it works!

Bought MH-10 or MS-10 for $20 at Walmart in 2007. Lasted until 2019 when cable strain relief broke. It was a nice block of chrome with some weight and fast, smooth operation. It would be possible to replace the cord, but I decided to save myself the trouble and replace it with a new clipper. I usually cut my hair at home. This new self-cutter is a little smaller, which I like, and has a bit of flexibility to help with the ergonomics of the self-cutter, but feels like lightweight Chinese plastic. It hums much louder, vibrates and the height adjustment lever is obviously cheap and flexible. It almost certainly won't survive a fall to the ground. The lever rubs against the body as it moves through its range. why didn't Val address that? The rubber pad feels nice, but once trimmed, the trim is difficult to wipe off the rubber. Smooth plastic with a few molded smooth bumps would be better. Without a guard, this clipper will also cut through skin while the old model didn't. When the guard is installed (it stays in place permanently), these machines cut perfectly. No complaints about his ability to cut hair. Portability is touted as one of the benefits, but oddly the plastic carrying case is much larger than my old, larger Wahl clippers. The case is also made of thinner plastic and has a flexible feel. I have transferred the contents to the old case and will continue to use it until I have time to replace the cord on the old buzzer. Val's second suggestion would be to add some sort of mount for the guard. Why is it normal to have more than a dozen loose items dangling in a suitcase when most people really only need to use the same 2 or 3 things every time? Let's organize! They're made in the USA so I'll continue to support Wahl, but it would be nice to see no drop in quality, especially as costs go up.
