I recently purchased this light to replace a set of low hanging rod lights that had fallen out of the ceiling due to improper installation by the previous owners of the house and also because I wanted to put a pot stand next to it at this point, and this style of lighting is better suited to this setup. I did a little research and tried to stay away from the really cheap stuff and settled on this flashlight for its looks, the high enough price point that seemed to imply the quality could be better than some others, and the capability to turn two levers. for better final positioning. The light itself is fine. There were no bulbs in my kit but I was planning on using LED bulbs anyway so I ordered them at the same time. When delivered, all the threaded sockets were crooked to one side, so that the light bulbs were noticeably crooked and touched the housing when screwed in. I took them all out again and bent the sockets to center the bulbs. Once mounted, the lamp looks unobtrusive and provides enough light for its size. I found it to be a little smaller than I thought it would be, but that wasn't a problem and the measurements given were accurate. What I have to deduct 2 stars for is the very cheap mounting system that uses custom hardware. The light comes with two brackets, one that attaches directly to the junction box and the second to the first bracket. This second bracket contains 2 screws for hanging the base of the lamp, covered with round "nuts" that fit the outside of the lamp as they are visible from the outside. The second bracket also has an arcuate slot for mounting on the first bracket, allowing you to position the base of the bracket at any angle relative to the junction box bracket. In my setup I needed them to be parallel to each other; The light arrived with them loosely assembled in a perpendicular orientation. Both mounts are typically cheap stamped mild steel, which is flimsy, meaning there is very little thread in the threaded holes. If you have to remove and insert the screws a few times while fiddling with the installation like I did, they will most likely come loose. This is hit number one. Note number two is that the screws used to hang the light are the same length, and once you align the two brackets together the way you want them, they can't be removed at all (to reduce their effective use). length) when resting against the junction box mounting bracket. In some cases, if your junction box is deeply recessed, they may not be long enough either. This wouldn't be a problem if other length screws were included (there aren't any), but assume you could just go to a hardware store and buy different length screws for 50 cents each and be on your way. . Incorrect - The screws provided are not standard inch or metric sizes. They have 32 threads per inch, which equates to the very common 6-32 and 8-32 bolt sizes, but the diameter falls midway between those two, meaning the included machine nuts win if you try to use either of those sizes . doesn't fit. . Since they are visible from the outside of the headlight and are color matched, you want to use them. In my case the screws were too long and I really only had to shorten them with a hacksaw, but I ended up buying 8 pieces. -32 and screw the fastening nuts back on with a tap. When I was done with the trial assembly, as I mentioned in the review, the threads in one of the bracket holes were stripped so the light can now rotate on the ceiling if someone touches it. Fortunately, this probably isn't an issue, but it still reflects poorly on the overall build quality. If I could do it over and over again I would probably just buy one of the cheaper nameless flashlights with the same overall look. Paying extra for this product has not brought me a better quality product and I am particularly disappointed with the odd, non-standard screws chosen for no apparent reason. The usual hardware you can find at any hardware store isn't expensive and should be interchangeable with the screws provided, so you can deal with that if your installation calls for a different length. I don't expect a lamp manufacturer to cover every possible installation scenario with screws of different lengths (although some products do and I respect that), but also the buyer can't handle it alone without cutting or tapping the screws.threaded holes. unacceptable.
