Review on Wellness Complete Natural Food 5 5 Ounce by Julie Lorig

Revainrating 4 out of 5

Our cats love wellness but dislike sauces

All of our cats had severe digestive issues so we looked for 'healthier' grain free cat food. All cheap products use plant proteins like wheat gluten or corn gluten. We chose Wellness as a good compromise between price and quality (and easy disposal of the glass). We loved the choice of different textures and flavors for cats. Others only have a few flavors or just pie. We chose gravy first because our cats love the gravy, but the wellness sauces have been inconsistent. Sometimes the sauce was thicker (see photo). Other times there was almost no sauce and the food was very dry (see picture). The cats didn't touch them when the food was dry. Also, the pieces in the sauce jar were cut very finely (just like the ground beef jars). Our cats had trouble getting all of the food and we usually threw away half of each can. We've moved on to slices that seem to have as much sauce in them as there is sauce in them. After four cans (turkey and salmon flavored), the happy kittens have eaten it all. The ingredients are slightly different. Chunks have spinach and sauces have carrots. Both use ground peas, flaxseed and cranberries. I'm not sure if it's any better for cats than grain. The protein content is the same, but the pieces contain 5% fat versus 3% in sauces. Maybe that's why our cats like the pieces better.

  • Good product for the price
Cons
  • Traded in
