I needed a 12" linkage assembly to match the nickel finish of my Fanimation Spitfire fan case (see my Fanimation Spitfire review). I have 10 foot ceilings and the Fanimation only comes with a very short suspension unit not suitable for high ceilings. The color matches the fan arrangement. Unlike some other base cabinets, I liked that the surface has been baked on and is immune to the typical scratches that can occur when installing the fan. I've had bad experiences with another fan manufacturer who didn't do this on their bottom bar assemblies, but only seemed to powder coat the bottom bar instead. I have found that these other bottom strips scratch easily when adjusting the caps, which is definitely not the case in this scenario. ork for the many fans you can buy. I recommend checking your requirements for this product before purchasing if you plan to use it with a non-Fanimation Spitfire. Before purchasing I checked the Fanimation website to make sure it would fit. The ends are NOT threaded which some fans require. So if you need a rod with a thread on each end, avoid that. There are pin holes at each end of the lower link, this is how the Spitfire is assembled. If you need something else for the fan, avoid this rod. The outside diameter is 1 inch and there is enough room to route all necessary wiring from the fan assembly to the ceiling wiring. If you choose another manufacturer you risk color variation or bottom bar incompatibility. I chose this particular product because the Fanimation website claims it is certified to work with the Fanimation Spitfire and it is also.If you are not using this floor pole for the fan fan animation that needs it, you can try a cheaper alternative that suits your specific needs.
