Having been a Windows PC user for most of my adult life, I didn't know what to do without a memory card slot to transfer my photos when I got my first MacBook! It was so cheap that I was very skeptical, but it works great. Plug it in and the Mac immediately recognizes there are photos on the card and iPhoto opens and anything I want to transfer is very easy to select and move around. This gives me the option of deleting or keeping the photos on the card after they've been copied to the hard drive. It actually seems a little unreliable so I'm forced to be a bit more careful with it, but it seems to be working well and not being that brittle. I even got knocked over a bit in my carry-on on my last trip and it still works like clockwork.
