Here is my review and rating of the OfficeGoods Black Electric and Battery Powered Pencil Sharpener. We bought this product for our grandchildren who always need sharpened pencils for school. Below are our thoughts on the pros and cons of the product: Pros - Affordable - Lightweight and portable - Runs on 4 x AA batteries, USB or AC adapter [Note: Connecting a USB to a computer to power a sharpener is not recommended my opinion.] - It has 3 sharpening tip options - sharp, medium, dull - no. 2 pens fit great - Sharpens great - Sharpens evenly - Company offers free replacement pencil shavings if tabs break or you need a replacement - Fast shipping - Great customer service cons - No batteries included - Shavings need to be emptied frequently and emptied over a bin can be messy - not as much power as I expected when using AC power (I've previously had an electric pencil sharpener which was slightly more powerful). According to the company, place your thumb on the flat top and the rest of your fingers on the flat bottom of the lid and pull out. (It's not hard once you get the hang of it.) That way the tabs won't get stuck or break off. Also, the chip cover is pretty small in my opinion, so the sharpener has to be knocked over with the cover. acts like a cup when removed to keep the shavings from falling out. Are there any improvements I would like to see? Of course. Which product cannot be improved? Will I buy this product again? Absolutely! The product is affordable, gets the job done, and the company has great customer service. OfficeGoods cares about its customers' experience with its product. I would recommend this company and their product to anyone who needs an affordable option to manually sharpen all those pencils that need sharpening at the start of the school year, especially if you have more than one child!
