Review on SEABEAST AF90 Full Face Snorkel Mask: Ultimate Anti-Fog Design with Foldable Tube and Removable Camera Mount by Adam Boesel

THESE MASKS ARE VERY DANGEROUS! My wife and I recently visited the Great Barrier Reef. Snorkeling conditions were excellent, with low and infrequent waves and excellent visibility. The terrain we swam in was about 30 feet deep. Both my wife and I had the same masks. We exited the boat and made our own way through the water to reach the same reef. The following event happened to both of us. It took about 5 minutes, my wife's problems started immediately. I moved along the surface of the water, breathing through the mask quite successfully and looked at the fish on the reef. Suddenly, after about 5 minutes, a relatively small wave gently rolled over me. This caused the ball to rise in the vent to prevent water from entering the mask. However, the ball did not return to its place after the passing wave, which immediately cut off our air supply. The mask, in turn, stuck to our faces. Panicking, we tried to stay afloat and tried to rip the masks off our faces so we could breathe again. We almost drowned in this incident. We had other snorkeling activities planned on the same boat trip but we were too traumatized to think about it. Since then I have been able to repeat this incident in a regular pool and have been shocked at the frequency with which it happens. This is very dangerous and I cannot recommend the use of these masks more. I think the worst part was how little the manufacturers paid attention to this issue. At first they tried to blame us and told us not to snorkel in 30ft water. I protested that it didn't matter since we weren't going underwater. I was then offered a refund, I also requested compensation as we had lost AU$450 during our snorkeling tour. They said they had to do their own testing on the mask and would not be communicating with me now. They also refuse to give me their mailing address to forward to my attorney. I am in the process of filing a complaint with the Australian ACCC. I advise against buying these masks because of the high risk of death!
