Didn't work for me with in-ear headphones

I thought I'd try them out for ANC first, which I haven't tried with headphones yet. Received them this morning but they are already packed for return! Unfortunately, earbuds are so subjective in both size and sound that you can't really know until you try them. They didn't fit into any of the categories for me. ANC: Yes, ANC is very good. I was able to use Edifier on my self-propelled lawn mower, listen to music (Handel's Messiah!) and didn't have to turn the volume up beyond my normal listening settings. Obviously some high frequencies are missed, but that's to be expected given that ANC usually focuses on low and mid frequencies at this price point. However, I have found that the volume usually needs to be cranked up 1 or 2 notches to achieve the same listening volume as my SoundPEATS H1. Edifiers just aren't that loud. SOUND QUALITY: The bass and treble emphasis of the NB2 Pro was too strong for me. Some of my other music sounded very harsh and boomy in comparison. Symphonic metal band Nightwish sounded very dirty. I've played around with some of my third-party equalizer settings (there's no Edifier app equalizer for that) but couldn't find a good balance for all types of music. I don't like constantly adjusting the equalizer based on genre. TOUCH CONTROLS/FUNCTIONS: The lack of a touch volume control was also a PITA. For example, I always need that track skip because some tracks are louder than others. I wasn't impressed with the reliability of the touch response. Maybe a learning curve with a touch, but it's not necessary and it's not for competitive buds. Spatial audio was an interesting feature, but I wouldn't use it. The app was pretty basic too. FIT: What was interesting was that I couldn't get a good seal with my sponge tips, only silicone tips! I think this is because the Edifier's shape means they only fit one way due to the very large shape of the ball and stem. My H1 foam-tipped earbuds stick out quite a bit and have a steep angle at the top to comfortably fit my odd-shaped ear canals. Of course, everyone's ears are different, even left to right, and your fit can be perfect. They just didn't suit me, although my other stem buds are very comfortable and I like them when I'm not active and just late night TV watching. CONCLUSION: In practice, I would only wear this when listening to music in noisy environments. I love my awesome H1. I can't justify them just for mowing! So, bye, Edifier. I think I just put on the Soundcore Q30 ANC headphones for mowing the lawn instead of the H1. This combination is great for noise cancellation and will almost certainly outperform any single ANC device. I might try the just released Neobuds Pro as they should be vastly improved with an additional 4dB of ANC and a smaller design. It also supports the Edifier app's equalizer, but still doesn't increase the volume with one touch. Thank you for reading this review and I hope it helps you with your purchase decision.
