I bought this tool instead of the standard spring compression tool because they were always disposable, junk. I've used the old school look at least 50 times in my past. They undress, tie and just hurt. I thought it must be better and they are way better. They were oiled but I added more to keep them smooth. These things are a lot smoother and more consistent than the old style, it's not even a comparison. I have zero problems with them. It seems that as long as they are lubricated they will last a very long time. I used them to compress a spring on an assembly for a 2018 S5 and it helped get the assembly over the A-arm. Very compact and no pole to get in the way. Highly recommended, best purchase in a long time. UPDATE 2/4/19 I have used this 3 times on my Audi RS5 and replaced my original springs with 034 Motorsport springs, then an H&R coil set, then a second H&R coil set. I oiled them and they were perfect. We cost money. The design allows me to jack them into tight spaces to adjust the coilovers and reduce spring weight and spring tension to reposition the spring bar and adjust ride height. This design is so much better than old fashioned junk, it's ridiculous. 6 out of 5 stars for her!
