🔧 Shankly Spring Compressor Tool Set Review

Good for 1 or 2 uses but the threads failed on the 3rd use and I have lubricated the threads with a good quality grease before each use. The metal in the thread is too soft. The photo shows where the threads stretched. and I almost ate Tuesday in the spring because I was in the middle of spring work. .

I share the same experience as the other one star review. After using this product on the third spring I've ever used it on, the threads in one of the compressors snapped, causing the spring to decompress violently. Fortunately there were no injuries. I really wish I could give this thing five stars, but I can't for a tool that lasts a fraction of what should last a lifetime and could have cost me a couple of fingers. I would also like to add that the thread was well lubricated.

Took 30 seconds before a compressor end broke while compressing Escalade springs. The springs aren't very heavy, I was a bit shocked that the supercharger shattered like that. My factory 2012 LT springs were too strong for standard 10" "heavy duty" spring compressors. The bolts were bent and I was afraid they would break and hurt me. This spring compressor is much easier to use than traditional spring compressors. The closed cover around the bolts also offers security if the bolts burst under high pressure. Just used this on a 2009 Silverado 1500 to replace shock absorbers. Short test - works perfectly. Longer Version - These two-piece devices are damn questionable to use, the nature of the design will only result in misalignment and eventual fly-out of the rods from the compressed spring. Realizing this, I took extra precautions to use them safely. Once you get them, clean them, grease the threads and twist them a couple of times.
