I hope this gadget will finally solve my car mount problems. I've had a lot of mechanical car mounts for cell phones. Those that solved the problem of keeping the phone from sliding on the dashboard had problems with mechanical clips. They are made of plastic and will break sooner or later. This car mount was quick and easy to install and comes off easily. I plan to take it with me to use in my rental car. My current phone is actually smaller and lighter than my previous one. However, it has a rather thick body. I've tried using a non-stick metal plate that goes between the phone and the case. But the thickness of the case interfered with the strength of the magnet. Therefore, an impact can knock the phone off the magnet. I switched to a stick on a plate that attaches to the body and it worked fine. My only caveat is that this is a vented phone holder which somewhat blocks airflow. It also positions the phone to interfere with some of the radio's controls. The good thing is that it's a bit closer to me so I don't have to reach as far. So there are pros and cons to this type of mount. My only suggestion would be to see if the magnet could be a little stronger so the mount would work a little more securely with a non-stick metal plate.
