Inexpensive, plain side table

In the early days of our marriage, my husband and I joked that our facility was "Modern K-Mart" and that this side table fell into that category: Inexpensive, laminate over chipboard and simple construction. Such furniture has its place if you cannot or do not want to invest in better furniture. While not large enough to be used as a dining table with most sofas, this side table works well as a mobile side table in my mum's apartment to rest her phone and magazines and as a side table for coffee and snacks. The instructions are mostly clear, even though it includes two sets, each slightly different. It took me about 30 minutes to assemble. If I hadn't thought about screwing the cam racks in instead of "plugging them in" according to the instructions, it would have taken me less time. I had to figure out how each piece would fit before I could get past the first step. The wheels, although cheap, work until the table is loaded. The table is strong enough to hold light items on top and heavier items like magazines on the bottom. I would not recommend it for people who need to temporarily support their weight by getting up from a chair. This table fits Mom's armrest which is lower than many others. Even for regular height sofas, it needs to be high enough to keep items within reach. While I'm not impressed with the materials, the side table serves its purpose. Debbie Lee Wesselman
