This remote worked right out of the box and didn't need to be programmed. My only issue, and why I deducted a star, is that the volume buttons often didn't work until you pressed one of the other face buttons. Like the remote going into sleep mode from which the volume buttons won't wake it up. For $9, I'm not complaining, but it can't get a perfect score if it doesn't perform perfectly.
