Review on πŸ“‘ Enhance TV Signal Quality with GE 4-Way Antenna Amplifier Splitter for Clear & Pixel-Free Viewing on Multiple TVs by Raymond Iglesias

Updated - This is a cheap amp. But I also found its capabilities

How can a distribution amplifier spoil a clear, strong signal? VHF signals are fine. It introduces all kinds of noise to most UHF bands. I felt better with the integrated Antec Smart amplifier and a high quality 3-way splitter (5dB loss). Update: Turns out the signal strength from my native antenna input with the GE preamp was too strong for this amp. So in my case on my third try with this amp I added a 17dB attenuator which got rid of the noise floor but also got rid of a couple of low power digital sub-channels that I don't really see. I fed this heavily attenuated signal into an amplifier and it works great with both VHF Hi and UHF sources. All I can say about the damping used is that it depends on the application and the location. Most of my channels are 15 miles away, but the two main networks are 50 miles away, so I needed a preamp. I have several coaxial attenuators ranging from 3dB to 17dB. I found that 12dB of attenuation would probably work as well, but the cleanest signal in my case was the absolute best for removing all of the noise from multipath, LTE, and weather. This GE distribution amplifier then brought everything down to a respectable and reliable 50-55% signal level for all channels. I no longer call it a junk amp, but it is also clear that there is no intelligence in this amp. . So keep that in mind when using it.
