Edit after 3 years: I missed the 6 month review but 3 years later it still works great. Never slipped on these steps since installation, not even a bit. I did find the tape had small black chamomile berries on it, but a quick wash with hot water and a little soap (I mean a few drops) about every 6 months and it stayed crystal clear with no yellowing. I sold the townhouse a few months ago and the new owners thought the tape was a great idea and even asked where I got it from because they wanted to do the whole track, not just the nose. If you still can't handle it, grab some of that duct tape and you can wear your socks with less anxiety, but I still recommend railings if you don't like going down stairs quickly.
