These shoes are great but give them time to get used to.

These shoes are great, but give them time to get used to your feet. When I bought them I never had a decent pair of real leather shoes. I didn't know how they would act before buying. But I kept hearing that Dansko makes the most comfortable clogs for long days on my feet, so I gave it a try. I run a hotel restaurant and wear certain rubber clogs all the time, but I'm not getting the support I need and my ankles were killing me. So bad I thought I needed medical help. Since I've been wearing them, my pain is almost gone. I'll be honest, my first few days were painful. I'm almost done returning them for a larger pair. However, after reading reviews of others who did the same and ended up being too big, and then looking at leather boots in general, I decided to keep them and see what happens. Like I said, the first part of you and your clogs relationship is probably going to be painful, but I'm beginning to understand that your foot will work and soften the skin to fit just right. Those of you who have ever bought a new leather baseball glove will understand. Achieving the perfect fit takes work and patience. Here are some tips that I think work. Don't wear them all day. It won't end well. Your legs will hate you. Consider taking a day off in between to dry your skin and catch your breath after your feet get sweaty. This also allows your legs to rest. 2. Take some leather conditioner and use it immediately. This will soften the skin and help break it down faster. Repeat this process every few months to prevent your shoes from cracking and to restore lost oil. 3. Trust your shoe size. If your toes aren't pinched and your heel is about a pencil width between the back of the shoe, then you're fine. I found that the collar of the shoe needed to be stretched along the toe. It will probably hurt at first, but once your foot is lowered towards the front of the shoe you will gradually start to feel better. Take some time and learn how to properly care for your leather shoes from trusted sources. With time, patience and a little pain, these shoes will become your feet's best friend.
