Ear flaps are pretty much for show
It looks good, material is thin and not meant for cold weather but that's good for the field. But the ear flaps partially fold down and aren't actually functional. It does fit a little loose. I got a 7 3/8 which is my normal size. If I didn't shave my head it would fit perfect.

I have a few of these. They outlast conventional ball caps. I run them through the washing machine every now and then, and they do fine with that - even the bill keeps it shape.The waxed cotton ones are great for rainy, cool days, but this model is more breathable for hikes, cutting firewood, gardening, and hot days.I use the ear flaps once in a while, but mostly I buy these hats because they are well made and last a long time.
