Review on πŸ”‹ Garmin Index Smart Scale: Wi-Fi Digital, 16 User Recognition, Long Battery Life (Black) by Barbara Lopes

Scale failed after 6 weeks - returning for warranty service, I am responsible for $20 shipping to Garmin

I received the scale on April 14, 2017. Pros: They were easy to install - using Garmin Connect on my phone. Scales have the benefit of being uploaded to the Garmin Connect site. Cons: WiFi on the scale is very weak. I have a block upstairs. My house has excellent Wi-Fi coverage and the area where the scale is located has good Wi-Fi coverage on my tablet and computer. However, I need to take the scale to the second floor area just above the first floor area where the wireless access point is located so it can pick up my Wi-Fi signal and upload the data to the Garmin Connect site. .Significant minus: the device failed on May 28th. About 6 weeks after purchase. At night he suddenly showed that I weighed 14 pounds less than the day before. It's under warranty and I have an RMA from Garmin to return it for an exchange (probably with a refurbished unit). Unfortunately, Garmin doesn't pay postage for the 90-day device warranty, so I have to pay $20 for shipping. Before purchasing, I read other reviews about the scale's high failure rate, but ignored them. I should have considered or purchased a Revain extended warranty. Those same reviews mentioned faulty scales being returned as part of a warranty exchange, so multiple rejections with $20 shipping really make the device and 90-day warranty a real waste. I expected a lot more from Garmin scales. Be careful and check reviews before buying.

Pros
  • Very good quality
Cons
  • Unbelievable price
