I read a bunch of reviews and people said that these shoe stretchers actually worked. I had my doubts- but I NEEDED to stretch a new pair of Keen Newports ( don't get me started on how disappointed I am in Keen for messing up the fit on my favorite shoes for the last 15 years. they are narrower and less deep and I am not the only one who has commented to them on this bummer fact)Anyway- I had my doubts because I was not trying to stretch leather. I needed to stretch the nylon strapping that goes across the top of these shoes and also try to add some depth so that my foot could fit into the shoe.I stuck the stretcher in and was able to secure the heel block on the back strap of the shoe. THAT was a relief because I was not sure if I could do that since these are technically sandals with a heel strap- but I could. I cranked the hook to stretch the width of the shoe and I added in the extender to stretch the area between the tongue of the shoe and where my foot goes. Left it like that for over 24 hours. Came back and took the stretcher out and tried them on and did not feel much improvement. so I tried it again- same thing- only this time I sprayed some shoe stretching stuff in on the inside areas that I wanted to stretch and then put the physical shoe stretcher back in the shoe and cranked it back to stretch the shoe wider and deeper and left it for another 24 hours and now I can get the shoes on and don't feel rubbing or uncomfortable pinching. So - thanks to this shoe stretcher I can still wear Keen Newports that I love- even though it is a bummer that Keen has monkeyed around with the fit that caused all this issue to begin with.
