Bought for big boys, medium and small. Pretty cute though for the pajama bottom photos I already had and the print in the middle. The quality of the shirt is very poor for the price. Thin fabric and uneven edges. There are no side seams, but the size is too small for a "big boy". Minor states should be 8. I would say it's a little boy 6 at best for 4-5 years old. Medium (10-12) fits our skinny 7 year olds well but is too small for shirts. That's fine for a Christmas Eve one-shot, but be aware that this is at best the quality of a 4.00-5.00 t-shirt made in Honduras. If you absolutely need them, please go up a size and lower your expectations of fabric quality.
