Definitely improves the sound quality. I tested recording video and audio with and without a microphone. HUGE difference. The small size makes it easy to FORGET it in your pocket. I almost lost it several times. It's definitely cheaper than the Rode VideoMic ME (https://amzn.to/2SxdgvU) but works just as well, albeit less. Noise, even though the phone was not put into flight mode during recording. This means the microphone can be used for Facebook Live or other live recordings without worrying about interference from the phone. That's more than I can say about the Rode VideoMic ME.
