Description of Saramonic SmartMic Mini Condenser Flexible Microphone: High-quality Audio for Smartphones, iPhones, and Androids - Perfect for Vlogging, YouTube Videos, and More!

The Saramonic SmartMic Condenser Microphone is small and lightweight, making it super-portable and easy to bring with you anywhere. It connects to your iPhone, iPad, or Android smartphone with a standard 3.5mm plug and allows you to record high-quality, professional sounding audio with your existing phone. The Saramonic SmartMic uses a TRRS condenser microphone to pick up and record a wide range of sounds with a frequency response that is wider and significantly better than any built-in smartphone microphones. A multi-directional head allows you to angle the microphone for flexible recording options that are perfect for musicians, journalists, or just spontaneous recording. A removable foam windscreen is also included to help reduce noise during wind or movement. The SmartMic is battery free, with a standard 3.5mm audio plug designed to connect to your iOS device via the headphone jack. Designed for optimum compatibility with iOS devices as well as the Android devices. Weighing less than 1 ounce, the mic is small and light enough to fit in your pocket. Shotgun design reduces unwanted sound from back and sides.

Works great for me.

I bought this product to film on Android. It works better than my phone's mic as it blocks out some background noise and makes my voice clearer. This is my first time shooting with a phone and for a cheaper mic it did what I wanted it to do. I like the small size and the ease of use.

Pros
  • Useful not only for its intended purpose
Cons
  • Nothing

Doesn't work, don't buy.

Great concept, poor execution. The microphone did not work when connected to my smartphone. There is no difference in sound quality between the built-in microphone and this external microphone. Do not buy! As I said, I really like the form factor and was very disappointed to find the mic didn't work. Let's hope the manufacturer fixes this problem.

Pros
  • Best in its niche
Cons
  • Hard to say

Good mic and works great on Note 8 👍

People who say it doesn't work should work with other mic manufacturers or have a malfunction because it works great and increased the overall sound level significantly. The sound is good, not out of a can and not empty. The Rode video microphone disappointed me, the recording level on it is not high enough. It's better for less money and less. Hear for yourself in my video. If it doesn't load here on Revain, you can find it on YouTube. You will not post links to it here.

Pros
  • Not cheap but decent
Cons
  • Some difficulties

Saramonic Smart Microphone for Smartphones

This Saramonic Smart Microphone has been used for 60 days. I like it compared to the built in mic of the phones I can use it on. These are Samsung Galaxy j3 and Apple iPhone SE. Much easier to transport than the Rode mics I still have in my inventory. As with Rode, I cannot use it with Data 3G/4G enabled due to interference. WiFi is ok. As far as I know, this cannot be used for live video with DATA originally intended. Otherwise, it's pretty good in offline flight mode or when connected to…

Quality, small size, no cords

This little mic has greatly improved my google transcription app. I have 2 Samsung tablets in my kitchen and living room. With this microphone, I record twice as many spoken words, which are then displayed on my tab. It's changed my life since I've been deaf. I just ordered another one for my cell phone in the car and when I'm not at home. I like that it's small and wireless. Just plug it in, it's automatically selected as the system mic and I can start a normal conversation. A must for the…

Fits Samsung Note 8

Definitely improves the sound quality. I tested recording video and audio with and without a microphone. HUGE difference. The small size makes it easy to FORGET it in your pocket. I almost lost it several times. It's definitely cheaper than the Rode VideoMic ME (https://amzn.to/2SxdgvU) but works just as well, albeit less. Noise, even though the phone was not put into flight mode during recording. This means the microphone can be used for Facebook Live or other live recordings without worrying…

Pros
  • Great price
Cons
  • Only available in black

My phone is a pixel, so the headphone jack is in the same corner of the phone as the front camera. When this mic is tilted towards me for a selfie, the mic is in the frame. When I tilt the mic out of sight, the mic is aimed over my shoulder, but the audio is still better than my phone's internal mic. If I replace the foam windsock with a fluffy windsock on a very windy day, the microphone needs to be tilted even further so that it's not pointing directly at me when recording from the front. I…

Pros
  • The SmartMic is battery-free and features a standard 3.5mm audio jack designed to connect to an iOS device via the headphone jack. Developed for optimal compatibility with iOS devices as well as Android devices.
Cons
  • Bad experience

Works with Galaxy S8 Active in Airplane mode

Received today to help record video of some hikes with audio. I want the load on my gear to be as light as possible and this thing weighs less than 2 ounces and is tiny. Out of the box, with phone video only, it connects directly through my Pelican case and works for both selfie and regular video modes. This is not a high quality microphone so the sound is ok for the price. My phone has to be in airplane mode or the microphone won't work at all. And then I have to switch off to hear the…

Nice, compact, comfortable, easy to use microphone

I'm a bird watcher, which means I search, photograph and document what I find. They are often difficult to see, but you can hear them. I'm trying to learn about the different sounds birds make at different times of the year. So I downloaded the Merlin app which helps me identify the songs/calls I'm listening to. I use a Google Pixel 4a phone and my girlfriend has an iPhone 12. She picked up more noise than my phone. So I ordered it as it was easy to use and take with me to the field…

Pros
  • Permanent test results
Cons
  • Disappear

I have more microphones and recording equipment than I know how to handle. I needed a way to improve the recording quality on my iPhone and iPad as I use them several times a day to record audio and video. I was definitely unsure about this mic at first, especially given the price and the fact that it's so close to my device on the internal mic, but I use it literally every day and the recording quality is studio-like - no exaggeration. Many thanks to the seller 1/11/2019 UPDATE: Still using…
