I'm a bird watcher, which means I search, photograph and document what I find. They are often difficult to see, but you can hear them. I'm trying to learn about the different sounds birds make at different times of the year. So I downloaded the Merlin app which helps me identify the songs/calls I'm listening to. I use a Google Pixel 4a phone and my girlfriend has an iPhone 12. She picked up more noise than my phone. So I ordered it as it was easy to use and take with me to the field. Conclusion: I definitely record more sound with it. My phone displays a tone graph and there is more on the graph after plugging in than without. I can hear more bird calls which is why. It's not fancy or professional quality, but it certainly improves the sound on my phone app. Very happy with the performance and price of the product and would definitely recommend it for this purpose.
