Received today to help record video of some hikes with audio. I want the load on my gear to be as light as possible and this thing weighs less than 2 ounces and is tiny. Out of the box, with phone video only, it connects directly through my Pelican case and works for both selfie and regular video modes. This is not a high quality microphone so the sound is ok for the price. My phone has to be in airplane mode or the microphone won't work at all. And then I have to switch off to hear the playback. So far this has worked well enough for my needs. But I can say that if I want higher quality audio I need a video app where I can see the gain. I would recommend and buy again. I took off a star because I was supposed to be in flight mode but also expected that level of performance.
