Meets my expectations for the Mi Fit line

I used to have a Mi Band 2 and was impressed with the performance, battery life and tracking so I had an idea of what to expect from the line would . I've looked at pedometers from companies like Fitbit or Garmin and had previously owned an Android Wear watch. All of them are great for what they offer. In practice, however, the Mi Band 5 offers all the features at a fraction of the price. I have a bracelet that's set to measure my heart rate every 30 minutes and automatically track my sleep (I don't need to be told when I go to bed/get up). All this data, along with the step count, is captured by the Mi Fit app on my Android phone. Mi Fit can sync all this information to Google Fit in the background if that is your preferred fitness tracking method. The sleep tracking feature allows you to set an alarm to wake you up within 30 minutes before the specified time, depending on what sleep cycle you are in. The idea is to wake you up when you're naturally closest to waking up to minimize drowsiness. An alarm clock is a bracelet that vibrates on your wrist, which is good for people who live in the same room and don't want to wake others with a loud alarm clock. There's an impressive range of screens for the watch, as well as a large number of straps that you can customize to your liking. I chose one of the default screens which shows heart rate, steps, time and date. Swipe left and right on the screen to access my app notifications, which you can customize for any app. The watch will vibrate when you receive a notification in the apps of your choice and display text or other communication messages. You can also see the current weather and control your phone's music with on-screen buttons. The media control buttons are a bit small, but that's the trade-off for the device's very compact size. There's a "Do Not Disturb" mode that turns off notifications on the watch during the hours you choose. However, this does not prevent the watch from lighting up when rotation is detected. This is one of the things my SO has complained about as it lights up when I move around in my sleep. You can adjust the brightness so this isn't a problem, but it's a very minor annoyance nonetheless. With my settings configuration I get about 10 days from a single charge and I know if I turn off the heart rate monitoring and sleep detection this could be greatly improved. I wore it in the shower and it's still waterproof. I have confidence in its ability to withstand sweat during exercise or the occasional rain. All in all, very good value for something that offers all these features.
