Review on Riparia Waterproof Backpack - AquaQuest 45L by Kyle Omaha

Revainrating 5 out of 5

Great backpack for backpackers/tourists/preppers/preppers.

Backpacks are not all backpacks. There are backpacks for just carrying around a few books, there are backpacks for gamers, and there are backpacks for travel. I use the odd Booq backpack for travel but needed a decent one for camping or hiking. Fairly light, durable, comfortable and water resistant are just some of the qualities I was looking for. Aquaquest had everything I was looking for plus a few extras. An interesting fact that I wasn't aware of is that this backpack comes with a lifetime warranty. The interior isn't heavily padded on the inside and I wasn't expecting that either. I will not carry electronics or fragile items. Think camping and you can imagine what will be in a backpack. The only things that might be fragile, like my three piece solar charger, attach to the outside with a carabiner. Everything about this backpack is top notch including the hardware. All buckles are made of durable plastic and a front zipper is made of metal. The zipper is synthetic but has a polyurethane coating to protect the contents from getting wet. The back of the pack is fairly well padded with a center core to keep my back comfortable and dry. There is ample padding and mesh which increases the breathability factor. Very comfortable and well centrally located. The backpack is made of 420D ripstop nylon with TUPU and PU coating. It's not exactly waterproof, but it's close. I filled the backpack with towels and other dry items, sealed it with the lid rolled up and left the backpack in the flood. Everything was dry, even a few towels. The only indication that it had been abandoned during the storm was the fact that water was dripping out of the backpack as I carried it inside. As I walked around with Aquaquest, I found it to be pretty well balanced. Padded shoulder straps gently taper down in a crescent shape for added comfort. On the back, just above the shoulder straps, is a 1/2" chiseled sewn-in nylon grab handle. The waist straps are soft, not too much, but just enough to provide the balance and comfort I desire "I won't be carrying books but I want balance. The shoulder straps can be adjusted from the bottom on either side of the pack. I would say the Aquaquest can handle a fair amount of weight if you want it. There are on either side of the pack stretchable compartments for water bottles or a water filter.Probably the only weak point is that it can be torn, but that's just a small detail. In fact, on the back there is a large secret pocket, similar to a muff. There you can detach the thigh straps, but since it's open, maybe not more. There's an inside pocket for whatever you want to keep separate from everything else. It's small, 8 Inches by 8 1/2 inches but big enough for a variety of things. All in all, this is a great waterproof backpack that ticks all of my boxes. It definitely passed the storm test and is a great backpack for hikers/campers/survivors/preppers.
