Soft keys and limited USB switch

I paired my Kinesis Freestyle2 digital keyboard with a Kinesis Edge RGB gaming keyboard with Cherry MX Blues. The keys on this numeric keypad are soft. I'm disappointed in how he feels. I returned this number pad for a Kinesis USB number pad that has at least Cherry MX Browns. The USB switch on this Freestyle2 keypad has limited functionality. I was only able to connect and use the Kinesis Edge RGB keyboard to one of the number pad's USB ports. My Razer DeathAdder Elite was potentially registered by Windows when connected to the number pad (I heard a noise), but it was not lit or otherwise working, ie the pointer was not moving. I also disabled the keyboard to remove power limitations, but that didn't work. I even tried swapping the USB ports but that didn't work. It should be noted that the Kinesis USB numeric keypad alternative switch works fine with the same keyboard and mouse, so I have a feeling that there is something wrong with the Freestyle2 numeric keypad. The numeric keypad itself works well, with the exception of the soft keys. I want the Fn keys of my keyboard and number pad to be in sync so I can access a special function with two hands. I appreciate Freestyle2's key split between the top function row and the "Num Lock" row. The number pad is dark gray - it's not black like everything else on my desk so it doesn't match, but it's a minor point. It would be nice if this article also had RGB backlighting for a suitable solution. Now I have too many cables everywhere and need a cable management solution. Flexibility has its price!
