Review on Enhance Your Biking Experience with Bikers Choice BC 39mm Black Fork Boots (pr) 666760 by John Cox

Perfect fit, functionality and style

Up until the early 70's almost every motorcycle had these rubber boots to protect the fork tubes from stones, insects etc. and to extend the life of the fork seals. They went out of style some time later as riding without them gives the front fork a lighter look. Their size fits Harley Davidson bikes equipped with 39mm Showa forks covering many thousands of bikes. I needed to replace leaking fork seals on my own '91 Sportster, so I decided to install a few while the forks were being disassembled. I won't go into replacing the fork seals themselves as there are many YouTube tutorials on the internet. Once the new seals are installed, these boots simply slip over the top of the fork tubes. The top end is the perfect size to fit snugly in the chrome fork tube and the bottom end is perfect for the top end of the alloy slider, especially if you don't get the chrome cap that covers the top of the slider and boot. when assembling the fork. The cases even have ventilation holes. Four notches are molded evenly spaced around the circumference on the inner bottom edge to allow them to "breathe" when the suspension is working. They work fine without the clamps and they don't anyway, there is a place to put the clamp on top. There's a spot below where you could install a clip if you wanted to, but I didn't find it necessary. When installing a clamp, don't over-tighten it or you could block those four vents on the bottom. The rubber seems to be of good quality, much better than my old Triumph bikes. 60s I like the retro aspect they give to the Sportster as well as the extra protection they offer.
