I restore LOTS of bikes - kids and adults - and have used LOTS of these cranks. I install them with a metal washer at the base so kids don't cut off the closed end by dropping the bike onto the handlebars. Use the back end of the toothbrush inserted into the hole in the washer and push the washer down onto the base. I also use a toothbrush to rub some rubbing alcohol on the handle and then some rubbing alcohol on the rod. Once it's pushed into the bar, the alcohol will evaporate and you'll have to cut the handle off to remove it. OD fits perfectly every time. Use the blade to cut off the old handle. The replacement time for old handles is about 5 minutes.
