Review on Weller WSB25WB 25W Woodburning Barrel Tool by Hunter Siemon

Revainrating 4 out of 5

A shorter barrel offers better control PLUS a 7 year warranty is enough.

Great little wood burner for little hands and small parts. finer details as it gives you much better control. You can get your hand closer to the surface and it's closer to the pull than long-barreled types. Years ago I had a Weller soldering iron that served me well (uh) so hopefully that one will work too. The case is a little cheap, as is the tray that everything fits in, but I'll just pop it in the case when I'm done. and cool. The different tips are a bonus, my previous wood burner didn't have interchangeable tips just a wedge shape. It was a fragile item that didn't last long. My only concern is prolonged use and tip loosening, a common problem with heavily used wood burners and soldering irons. If there was a heavy, short-barreled version for about the same price, I would buy it. However, I wanted it to be no more than $20. TIP: Allow to cool before changing tips. Yes, it's a pain when you're on a project, but the hot tip comes across easier. I smeared some thermal paste on my soldering iron to make changing the tip easier. It gets warm, not too hot to hold but you can definitely feel the heat. If that's a problem, I put foam tape on it for a softer hold. BUT it comes with an amazing 7 YEAR WARRANTY! So if there's a fire, I think I'm covered. Not bad for under $20. ADVANTAGES:1. Short barrel for extra control. This is the best feature.2. Various tips included3. Heats up well4 storage case5. Hot knife tip 6. 7 year guarantee Cons: 1. No adjustable temp.2. Cheap tray, case is ok, only the accessory tray is a little thin, but that's ok.3. The cable could be longer and more flexible. Notes: Yes, I know my sketch is of poor quality. Just play around.
