Review on Red Spring Eggbeater 1 by Antonio Liu

Revainrating 5 out of 5

Great sport pedals

I've been using Eggbeater pedals for years and don't want to try any other. Simple, strong (relatively) reliable dirt-resistant 4-way design, light enough to be seen by street fans. I've been told that heavier riders don't like them because the lack of a platform contributes to shoe wear, but that was never an issue for me. I drive thousands of miles a year so of course I wear out the bearings; I just change the whole pedal and don't bother changing the bearing. To reduce pedal wear, the cleats are made of a softer metal, so they'll need to be changed from time to time, but that's no big deal. They are intended for mountain bikers but I am a recumbent rider and road mates should also consider them.

Pros
  • Sleek design
Cons
  • Some little things
