They are great. The sound quality, including the base, is above average. I had the same headphones in the older model. They lasted at least 3 years under heavy use and I even accidentally put them in the shower once. Then one side finally stopped working so she decided to buy a newer model since she was so happy with them. The sound quality has even improved compared to my old ones which I thought had good sound quality. Same range depth but much clearer. NOTE: It is important to use the right size buds. It comes with 3 sizes but the smallest ones are already attached. When I first tried it with small headphones, the sound quality was terrible. There is no base. If I wear the next size up MUCH BETTER. It really is a HUGE difference. I noticed some negative reviews because of the sound quality. I bet they used the wrong size buds. The ONLY reason I didn't give it 5 stars is because the cables connecting the headphones are flimsy compared to the old model. I wonder if it can withstand heavy wear and tear getting caught in the collars of jeweled jackets and the like. This time I also got a case so I can keep it safe when not in use. The reason I wore the former so often was because I didn't have a safe place to put them when I wasn't using them. I just kept them. I hope that being able to keep them in a case will help them last longer. For your health :)
