We didn't really need a new monitor as our old 17" Dell flat screen worked great. However, we're glad we bought this new monitor along with our new computer. More comfortable viewing and definitely brighter. In fact, we had to turn the brightness down from the factory settings. In addition, the display is very sharp and the colors are very bright and true. It's probably too small for gaming but perfect for us, I would recommend it to anyone who needs a basic monitor for everyday use.
