Review on OGX Damage Remedy Coconut Miracle by Daniel Bates

Unusual product and unexpected allergic reaction

I won't lie - this product feels patchy. I remember opening it and thinking someone had already scooped out a small portion, but I attributed it to the cream settling on a certain side during shipping. After reading the reviews, it seems like others had the same suspicions, so maybe my initial thought wasn't entirely unfounded. After using this product I noticed that I started getting itchy welts on my back, face and arms. I knew I was having an allergic reaction, but I wasn't 100% sure it was because of the mask or the new body soap my partner had just received. As you can see from the photos, I did a spot test with both products and it was clear that I am allergic to this hair mask. Now I am familiar with OGX products. I am currently using their argan oil shampoo, conditioner and hairspray. I also know I'm not allergic to coconut or vanilla products - I've used their coconut oil hairspray before. But all of these products were purchased from my local grocery store, not Revain. I consulted with my mother, a chemist who worked for a company that analyzed various cosmetics a few years ago. In her experience analyzing hair products, she said it's impossible to tell which ingredient caused the reaction — there's always an unknown ingredient that isn't listed. You can take this with a grain of salt but I saw a few other reviews. that this product may not be genuine, so who knows. In terms of actual product results, my hair seems shinier. I'm not sure if it really feels softer. The aroma was just fantastic!
